Hot Springs
Village Real Estate - Top Ten Gated Community at Bargain Prices.
Hot Springs
Village real estate bargains. That's what happens when you combine a
top ten rated retirement community with
one of the lowest cost of living indexes in the country. The reason
over fifteen thousand people
from all 50 states and several foreign countries, call this 26,000 acre
gated village home.
OK, it's a bargain, but is that the only reason to live
there? The best way to find out is by talking to some folks that do. I
happen to know several residents from varied backgrounds, so I asked
them what they thought.
Among
this group were military retirees, corporate career types, business
owners, family people that still commute to work, and a few lucky ones
that work when they want to, not because they have to.
One thing
became clear after chatting with them for a while though. They all seem
to love living in Hot Springs Village. The fact that Hot Springs
Village real estate is a bargain had very little to do with it.
Let's Find Out
Why They Love It.
Joe is a
retired Naval Aviator-which means he took off and landed on
aircraft carriers. Used to a life of intense action, he gets his
thrills now by riding his motorcycle. He loves being able to ride over
470 miles of well maintained roads winding through the wooded hills of
Hot Springs Village. His wife Pat loves that he doesn't have to leave
the gated community to do it.
It's
also reassuring to know that the Village has it's own fire, police,
EMT, and public works department. That means street maintenance, water,
sewer and sanitation, and curbside trash and recycling are all handled
locally by Hot Springs Village.
Like most
military men, Joe
enjoys a good round of golf. He is definitely in the right place
because as an owner of Hot Springs Village real estate, you have your
choice of nine beautiful courses. Four of them are ranked in the top
ten of all Arkansas golf courses. Two were ranked nationally as "Best
New Courses" when they opened.
Joe's wife Pat
really loves the
outdoors. She was impressed that 25% of the 26,000 acre community was
designated "green space" and left in it's natural state. What she
really loves are the 20 miles of city maintained trails winding through
that space. Great for walking and biking, or Joe can even drive his
golf cart from one course to another. And there's 11 more miles being
developed.
Living on a fixed
income, Joe and Pat were naturally
concerned about prices. But with wooded natural lots going for
$10,000-$15,000 and homes for as little as $89,900, they thought Hot
Springs Village real estate was surprisingly affordable. When they
added up all the amenities, not to mention the gorgeous surroundings,
it was clear to them this was a value that couldn't be equaled
anywhere else in the country.
Frank and his
wife Mary own a successful business in Shreveport LA.
They chose to invest in Hot Springs Village real estate when they
bought a very nice lake front home a few years ago as a weekend
get-a-way vacation house. They both love being on the water, so the
boathouse attached to their new home was perfect. They can drive their
ski boat right up to the back door!
Since
Frank loves to fish, the fact that the Arkansas Game and Fish
department keeps the eight lakes stocked with a good variety including
bass, bream and crappie is a big plus for him. Eight lakes totaling
nearly 2,000 acres with three more being developed gives him plenty to
choose from.
Mary likes the
three sand beaches and two covered
pavilions for large get-togethers with family and friends. It's a great
place for a cookout with the grandchildren, they can swim while the
burgers are grilling. Personal watercraft aren't allowed on the lakes
but skiing sure is on the three largest lakes, and if Frank's boat
needs some attention, there are two full service marinas.
An
avid tennis player, Mary was thrilled when a tennis center with ten
clay and three hard courts, and a clubhouse were built. For the owners
of Hot Springs Village real estate, no ordinary tennis center would do.
Named 2005 USTA Southern Tennis Association Welcome Tennis Center of
the Year, and 2006 Facility of the Year in Arkansas - and receiving
five
star status from the Arkansas Tennis Association - this is definitely
not an ordinary tennis center.
Home to 40 USA
League teams, the center also offers summer tennis for juniors, and
lessons year round. Mary couldn't be happier.
In
fact, Frank and Mary are so happy here, they've decided to make this
their full time home, and commute to their business in Shreveport. They
were able to reduce their work week to three days so they could spend
more time enjoying life in Hot Springs Village.
Frank says he
feels like the real estate in Hot Springs Village is such a great
value, he's encouraged several of his business friends in Shreveport to
take a look. Golf front lots are available for $35,000 to $75,000, and
lake front lots go for $100,000 to $300,000.
Homes on the
larger
lakes range up to around a $1,000,000, although the median price for a
house is about $190,000. Town houses can be had for about $100,000.
Some of Frank's friends have bought less expensive homes for vacation
houses, and plan to move up to larger homes when they can retire. So
Hot Springs Village real estate really has something for just about
everyone.

Jerry and Cheryl are both retired from corporate careers in Little
Rock. Jerry, who owns an extensive collection of guitars, had recently
become concerned about an increase in crime in Little Rock. Cheryl was
getting tired of the traffic congestion while running her daily
errands. They had been talking about moving to a smaller city with a
slower pace and more security, but they hated giving up all the things
they liked to do in Little Rock. There were also family and friends
they wanted to stay close to.
When Jerry found out that Hot Springs Village had
one of the lowest
crime rates in the nation, and Cheryl realized she could get just about
anything she needed right outside the front gate of the Village, they
knew they had found what they had been looking for. Little Rock was
only about 40 minutes away, so that made it perfect.
After
retiring Jerry had really gotten serious about his fitness. Owning Hot
Springs Village real estate gives you access to a fully equipped
fitness center.
Indoor heated pool, weight room, cardio room,
exercise room, whirlpool and sauna, weight room, both land and water
classes, and a water training program, was all Jerry could have hoped
for.
Cheryl noticed that swimming lessons for adults
and children
were available. She knew that would be great for their two
grandchildren. She also noticed that massages by Registered Therapist
Technicians, and one hour facials, were available by appointment. She
knew that would be great for her! Three outdoor pools - swimming,
diving, and wading - just sweetened the deal.
Jerry and Cheryl
love having their two grandchildren visit during the summer when school
is out. Being at that "active" age when they become quickly bored was a
worry. Fortunately the Family Recreation Area solved that problem.
Outdoors there is miniature golf, tennis and
basketball courts, a
fully equipped playground, and areas for volleyball, badminton, and
tether ball. Indoors there is 3,000 square feet with ping pong, pool
tables, air hockey, foosball, movies, television, video games, computers
and more. Even a piano! And summer play day programs offer structured
play days with well planned activities.
Since Jerry is a
musician, he loves the Community Center with room for dances where his
band can play. With 18,000 square feet it has plenty of room for
reunions, wedding receptions, and special classes and meetings.
Cheryl's favorites are the spring and fall arts and crafts shows.
There's also a library.
Cheryl, who is a bridge fanatic, couldn't
believe it when she discovered one of the three Activities Center
buildings was a 5,700 square foot bridge club! A second building is a
4,500 foot meeting space. The third is a 650 seat performing arts
center where Jerry enjoys attending the concerts.
Now I think I
know why everyone
loves living here. And the fact that Hot Springs Village real estate is
a bargain is really just a bonus.
